  • Cross Country Intramural (Grades 5-8)

    Monday November 1st, 2021, 3pm — 4.15pm
  • Public Speaking – “Confident Junior Communicators” - After-School Program

    Tuesday November 2nd, 2021, 3pm — 4.30pm

    We are happy to welcome back an extremely popular program from the past  - public speaking by Roquiita Johnson. Roquita has relocated from CT but will facilitate the same program remotely. It will take place in the SJS library – supervised by 2 SJS volunteers. Students will learn about the 3V’s of Public Speaking: the Vocal, Visual, and Verbal.  Topics under the 3V’s will include: Helpful and hurtful body language, visual aids, verbal “distractions”, how to bring a speech to life with yourwords, how to useyour voice to engage the audience, how to craft a speech using the fundamentals of speech structure. 

    The program’s ultimate goal is to equip and empower students to handle her/himself with more confidence in any speaking environment. 
RJPS will provide each student with handout resources. Every student receives a Confident Junior Communicators participation certificate at the end of the program. Certificates will also be given for special achievements/recognition. 


  • SJS Choir - After-School Program

    Wednesday November 3rd, 2021, 3pm — 3.45pm

    St. John School Choir will meet every Wednesday during the school year. Join us, the team of SJS teachers with various talents who will be working with the choir. We are all looking forward to a fun year of practicing and performing at school and in our local communities. Choir Team: Mrs. Haylon, Mrs. Meyer, Mr. Borden, and Mr. Wohlmuth.

  • Catholic School's Week - Food Drive to Benefit Holy Family Food Pantry (Baltic)

    Monday November 15th — 18th, 2021

    Please join in our effort to help families in need by bringing in non-perishable and perishable items for the Sisters of Charity Holy Family Food Pantry in Baltic.  The assigned list per grade is below. Non-perishable items can be sent to your child's classroom Monday - Thursday. Please send in perishable items on Thursday, November 18 only. 

    PK - cranberry sauce, olives, pickles

    Kindergarten - Thanksgiving paper products and cereal

    Grade 1 - pasta/rice

    Grade 2 - desserts:brownie or cake mixes, pies

    Grade 3 - juice jugs, fresh fruit

    Grade 4 - boxed or fresh potatoes and yams

    Grade 5 - canned or packaged soups

    Grade 6 - turkey stuffing and gravy

    Grade 7 - canned or fresh vegetables

    Grade 8 - canned fruit/sauces

    We are also in need to donations of frozen turkeys, dairy products (butter & half and half) and coffee

     

  • New England Catholic Schools Week - Opening Prayer Service(weather perm)/Door Decorating

    Monday November 15th, 2021

    Opening prayer service for students and teachers will be held outside (weather permitting) to pick off New England Catholic Schools Week.

  • New England Catholic Schools Week - Silly Hat & Socks Day

    Tuesday November 16th, 2021

    Students will wear silly socks and hats today along with the SJS uniform.

    Students will enjoy a variety of indoor/outdoor games.

    Buddy grades will get together for some fun activites and wear matching colors! It will be a dress down day in the following colors:

    PK & Grade 8: Red

    K & Grade 4: Blue

    Grades 1 & 6: Green

    Grades 2 & 5: Purple

    Grades 3 & 7: Black

    Advanced Band Lessons are at 8am each Tuesday and again during the day on a rotational basis.
