Mrs. Papp Retires After 22 Years at St. John School

Jun 27 2018

The end of the 2017-18 school year at SJS also marked an end of an era as long time 3rd grade teacher Mrs Papp hangs up her lesson plans for retirement plans.

Prayer Service for Mrs. Papp

In 1979 Pope John Paul II inspired Catholic School teachers with the words, "Jesus shares with you His teaching ministry". Mrs. Papp has epitomized this philosophy throughout her career at SJS.  When students enter 3rd grade after receiving their First Holy Communion, they are ready to deepen their understanding of their faith and love of God.  Mrs. Papp encouraged her students to  "FROG": Fully Rely On God.  In addition to teaching written expression, math, science, spelling and the like, Mrs. Papp instilled in her students a love of the saints and the Eucharist, as well as the importance of Christian service to the global community.

From Saints Alive, collections for Haiti, praying the rosary, to the Long Island Sound, math facts, and spelling, Mrs. Papp has inspired countless students to fulfill their potential to be not just productive, but virtuous students and citizens.  A legacy of which to be proud.  SJS has been blessed to have Mrs. Papp as our third grade teacher and we wish her well as she begins her new chapter.
