Cross Country

The St. John Interscholastic Cross Country program is open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. SJ XC team does not participate in a formal runner’s league. Athletes train 3-4 times a week for two weeks before contests begin. Runners are encouraged to have established some level of endurance before the season begins. Any athlete who is not properly conditioned will not be allowed to compete. Runners must commit to a schedule within the months of September through the first weekend of November that consists of approximately 1-2 races and 2-3 practices per week, not to exceed 4 meetings each week. All races take place on school days except for the CTMS Championships and select invitational meets. All players are expected to abide by the rules outlined in the Athletic Handbook and by their coach, have an updated Sports Physical, and have paid the $30 athletic fee. Parents may be asked to volunteer their time for jobs to help the success of the team. It is highly recommended that each runner have a watch. A separate registration and fee must be submitted for each sibling.

To register your child/ren, please visit the Register To Play  page and submit all forms and fees to the main office by the deadline indicated. A separate registration and fee must be submitted for each child.
