School Banking

* This program has been suspended for the 2020-21 academic year due to Covid-19.*

For the 2020-21 academic year, the school has partnered with Essex Savings Bank to teach the children about saving with a school banking program.

How the program works:

  • No minimum deposit.

  • Every FRIDAY IS BANKING DAY! Students bring their deposits to school in a special savings envelope provided by Essex Savings Bank.

  • A bank representative will pick up the deposits, process them and return a receipt with account balance, a sticker, and new deposit envelope for the next week.

  • The annual percentage yield on these accounts will be .15% (APY) and interest will be paid on account balances of $5.00 or more.  The rate is subject to change through the year.

  • Each month the child will be mailed a statement to their home address.

  • Deposits may continue through the summer at any of the Essex Savings Bank five branch locations.  Any withdrawals would also be conducted at the branch locations. See website for locations: Essex Savings Bank.
  • For any questions about the program, contact Kathy Callinan, Manager or Karie Hansen-Blaha, Assistant Branch Manager at 860-388-3543.

To get started:

  • If your child participated in the banking program last year, use the deposit envelope and include your child's account # with the deposit.

  • If you do not have an account with Essex Savings Bank or if you have an account, but your child has not participated in the past, paperwork will need to be completed. Forms are available in the school office.
