Little Flowers is a Catholic Girls' group for Pre-K to 8th Grade that can be seen as adjacent to Girl Scouts/Brownies. The group focuses on learning virtues through saints, scripture and catechism of the catholic church.
This is Saint John School's second year running the club, and our numbers are growing strong! The girls have showed a strong interest in completing their units, known as their Wreaths, and earning their badges.

Blue Knights is the boys' Catholic group that is similar to Little Flowers. This group is for boys in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
This is the first year we are beginning the Blue Knights Boys group! Join Fr. Michael and learn about the Catholic Faith through games, activities, events and service opportunities in order to grow in Faith and learn how to best serve God.
Girls in grades pre-k to 8 can join our Little Flowers program and boys in grades K to 8 can join the Blue Knights program
The entry fee of $50 includes their materials, consisting of a workbook, sashes, badges and a Tiny Saint keychain for each saint being studied. This also covers activity materials and snacks for the first week. Parents may be asked to contribute snacks or craft materials throughout the school year.
No, students do not have to be Catholic! The clubs are open to all of our students regardless of religion. Just be aware that the instruction is centered on Catholic values and virtues and studies the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Students will begin their meetings with a prayer and will then proceed to read and learn from their books. If it is around the Feast Day for a saint that they are learning about, they will focus on that saint for the meeting. Typically they will learn about some Catholic Values and Virtues, read a passage or two from the bible and do a craft or activity pertaining to the topic for that week's meeting.
Yes, students can enter mid-year. They may be asked to make up the activities they missed at home with a parent, but they can still join during the year. It's preferred that they join in the beginning of the year so that they don't miss any crucial instruction and introductions to the program, but exceptions can be made.
Little Flowers and Blue Knights will meet in separate rooms on the same days. There may be times that the groups will combine for lessons or activities, but the majority of the meetings will be separate.
To each meeting, they must bring their workbook with a writing/coloring utensil as well as their sashes.
Yes, the students earn badges! There are a few badge ceremonies throughout the year when they finish with their current unit virtue. They also may receive certificates for certain achievements throughout the year.
We have two adults for Little Flowers and two adults for Blue Knights in the rooms with the children at all times. If one adult is unable to make it, parents may be asked to volunteer their time. Parents are also encouraged to come to badge ceremonies and the presentation of any awards.
