For three decades, Saint John School has been a place where faith, knowledge, and community come
together to help children grow to be the people God intended them to be. Our alumni continue to impress
us with the ways they go forth to make a positive difference in the world. Members of our Class of 2020
have gone on to attend outstanding institutions such as Georgetown University, Cornell University,
Harvard University, Boston College, and Boston University.
Pope Leo XIV reminds us that "The Catholic school is a place where faith, culture and life cross
paths, it is not just an institution, but a living environment in which the Christian vision
permeates every discipline and every interaction.” At Saint John School, we recognize and honor the
fact that parents are the primary educators of their children. We see our role as partners in supporting
parents in forming their children in virtue and integrity.
As a parish school, we are able to provide an affordable, excellent education thanks to the
generous spiritual and financial support of the Saint Pio Parish community. Our teachers and
staff see their roles as a vocation, not just a job. Their dedication, faith, and love for our students
are what make our school so special.
We continue to grow and improve each year. This year we added Spanish for grades K-2 and
Physical Education twice a week for Pre K and Kindergarten. We have upgraded our security
system, internet, and website to better serve our families and ensure a safe, connected learning
environment.
I invite you to visit, tour our classrooms, and experience the warmth and excellence that make
Saint John School such a special place.
In faith and partnership

The first parish school for grades 1 to 8 was open from 1964 to 1972, but closed due to staffing and financial difficulties. For the next twenty years, the building functioned as a parish center, CCD office and classrooms and location of the Shoreline Soup Kitchen.
Through the support of the parish and diocese, Saint John School officially reopened in August 1994, for grades Pre-K through 8. In 1999, a new wing was added to the school, which is now the lower grade classrooms. Improvements to the school and grounds continue to take place to this day, and will continue through the upcoming years.
Our dedicated teachers and staff follow the guidance of the Diocese of Norwich's Curriculum Standards. These can be found on the Diocese of Norwich web page.
